Eastbourne Town continue to make changes in the preparation for the upcoming season, appointing a new first team captain and a host of backroom staff.

The Saffrons club have elected Steve Elliott to wear the armband for the 2013/14 campaign, taking over from the departing Ben Austin.

Elliott has been a mainstay in the Town team in recent seasons and his efforts have been obviously appreciated by supporters, who have nomimated him as Player of the Season for the past two years.

Chairman David Jenkins said, “I am particularly pleased Steve has accepted this vital role within the team.

“He hs been a wonderful player for Town and is extremely popular both on and off the pitch. I know how seriously he will take his responsibilities as captain and I am sure he will lead the team to a successful season.”

New club manager Ady Colwell and first team manager Kevin Laundon continue to stamp their mark on the club by also drafting in some new faces off the pitch.

Ryan Light joins the set-up as head coach, with Chris Dicker and Mark Lynch as his assistant coaches.

Sam Reed will be the goalkeeping coach this season.

They travel away twice more to Hailsham Town and Ringmer on Thursday, July 25 and Tuesday, July 30 respectively, before hosting local rivals Eastbourne Borough on Thursday, August 1.
