Eastbourne Town Red under under -13 and were soon back in their stride after a slow start to their new campaign
Red sported their brand new kit, kindly sponsored by Mr and Mrs Elliston from Evee’s Pebbles Holiday Rentals.
After taking an early lead through Brad Santos, midway into the first-half , they conceded a soft equaliser, and went 2-1 down shortly before half-time. Things got even worse and after several missed chances, a defensive blunder saw the home side go 3 – 1 down.
That goal sparked a reaction and Harry Lambird pulled a goal back for the hosts, but the visitors scored again soon after to restore their two-goal lead.
Lambird then grabbed his second before a hat-full of chances went begging for Town.
That was until a late flurry saw player-of-the-match Callum Baldwin rescue a point in the final moments.
And they might have grabbed all three .
George Cooper rounded the keeper in the final minute but his mis-hit shot was cleared off the line.
They were at home again in their next match, hosting Mid Sussex Blues , where they made much better use of their chances. Goals from Lambird, Lewis Chapman, George Cooper, Simon Bass and Brad Santos gave a rampant Town a resounding victory, Sammy Bobbin also had a hand in a number of the goals.
The only blot on the day was that they gifted their opponents two soft goals.
But they didn’t matter as Town ran out comfortable 5-2 victors.
