Star striker and fans’ favourite Jamie Taylor will be back at Priory Lane next season.
Borough boss Tommy Widdrington announced today (Monday) that he has agreed terms for 2016-17 with the talisman striker, who returned to the club in mid-season from Margate for a third spell with the Sports.
“Jamie is a top quality striker, and equally important, a terrific clubman whose experience and influence on our younger players will be priceless as we look to move forward next season. Players like Jamie are gold dust. We already had half an eye on next season when Jamie re-signed, and both parties are very happy with this new deal.”
Widdrington also announced that terms have been agreed with long-serving skipper Ian Simpemba, as well as with Elliott Romain, who impressed in his first season at National South level after joining from Lewes. “Ian is a fantastic leader and an exemplary captain who offers so much to me and to the club. Ellliott had a really promising first season, terrorising defences, and I am confident that he will develop further in the coming twelve months.”
The Sports manager also revealed that he has offered deals to two promising Academy graduates, striker Josh Street and attacking midfielder Ryley Tate. “These lads are definitely ones to watch for the future, and they are examples to all the youngsters that there is a clear pathway from the Academy to the first team. I am sure others will follow in due course,” said Tommy.
