Sovereign Saints clinched the league and cup double with a narrow 1-0 win over Punnetts Town in the final of the Eastbourne FA Junior Cup on April 15.
After claiming the East Sussex League Three crown with a 4-0 win over AFC Hastings last Saturday, attention now turns to a potential treble as they take on Pece Hill Select in the yet-to-be-arranged League Cup final.
Saints were pushed all the way in their first cup final of the season, though, as Punnetts Town belied their status as underdogs from Division Six under the lights of Eastbourne United’s Oval ground.
But it was Division Three’s deadliest marksman, Phil Broom, who made the difference as he broke through with just seven minutes to play to fire home the only goal of the game.
It is a super return from a mens side that was only formed at the start of last season to compliment an expanding youth section.
After promotion in tehir inaugral season, they have now won two promotions and a cup in that short period.
With the team due to play in Division Two next season, the club have decided the time is right to launch a reserve team to play in the lower divisions.
This will also give a greater opportunity for some of the older youth players to progress to a more competitive level of men’s football.
The Club is considering applications for the position of Reserve Team Manager.
Anyone who is interested in applying for the role should contact Club Chairman Paul Garnell on 07778 557538.
