Eastbourne United have announced Simon Rowland as their new boss following the departure of Paul Daubeney in the close season.

Rowland rose above a number of other candidates to be appointed manager of the club, who are pushing for promotion from the Sussex County League Division Two - something Rowland succeeded in doing with previous club AFC Uckfield.

The former Eastbourne Borough player, who was part of the squad during Garry Wilson’s reign, left newly-promoted Uckfield in August, 2011 to take the number two spot at Ryman South outfit Burgess Hill Town alongside Gary Croydon, who later stepped down to allow Rowland to take full charge.

United secretary Brian Dowling said, “He is very enthusiastic and we believe he will carry on from Paul Daubeney’s good work.”
