Paul Daubeney said promotion is the key after Eastbourne United suffered a 3-2 defeat at home to Broadbridge Heath in the RUR Cup Quarter Final on Tuesday evening.
“Our aim at the start of the season was promotion. We’re out of the cup and can now focus on the league.
“Kicking on until May is what we need to do because we want that top three finish.”
United, who were knocked out courtesy of a 118th-minute winner in midweek, travel to Saltdean United who lie bottom of the league table having not won a game all season.
However, manager Daubeney doesn’t feel the league table will tell the story.
“They’ve got some good players in the side and will look to pull couple of results together. We can’t go there thinking we’ve won because we’re away from home and they’re battling to get themselves into a survival position.”
Daubeney’s side picked up a couple of injuries during the game against Broadbridge with Danny Simmonds ruled out with a hamstring injury while Shaun Lee is a doubt.
Daubeney has Jack Divall and Gianluca Del-Gaudio returning and feels it will give his side a boost this weekend.
“Changes will be made. I feel we can play much better football so players will be put in who I feel can re-ignite that.
“I was very pleased with the way my players reacted after the game and hopefully that attitude will continue into Saturday.”
