Eastbourne United AFC boss Tobi Hutchinson said his team are on the right track after six points and eight goals from their last two games.
Last Saturday United showed tremendous spirit as they battled back from a goal down to beat Lancing 4-3 at the Oval.
Lewis Finney put the visitors ahead after six minutes but goals from Liam Baitup, Dean Stevens, Jamie Bunn and Zak Dove ensured Hutchinson recorded his first victory since replacing Simon Rowland.
United followed up their first win in three matches with a further three points in a well-contested midweek local derby against Ian Stevens’ Hailsham Town at the Oval.
Once again United fell behind as Jamie Salvidge opened the scoring from the penalty spot but a 75th minute own goal and a late hat-trick from lethal striker Liam Baitup saw Hutchinson’s men to victory.
United now face two away games. Tomorrow (Saturday) they travel to Horsham YMCA and on Tuesday night they make the trip Hassocks. Hutchinson will be without suspended 16-goal striker Liam Baitup. The boss does however hope to have the Manton brothers Brad and Greg available while Liam Painter could get his chance as striker as Baitup sits out for three matches.
Hutchinson said, “It’s been a good week no question about that. We had lost a few lately so to come from behind in both matches shows great character. We are on the right track. We had a full team of players available and when you look to change things during a match, we had first team players in the dugout who can go on and make a difference.
“Six points from the week is massive for us but we have to keep it going. We have two tough away games coming up and now we can go to them with confidence. The six points from last week takes a bit of pressure off us.”
