Lightening struck for a second time this season for Eastbourne Town.

A single lapse in concentration in the 92nd minute, once again allowed Faversham Town to escape with a point as the two in-form sides shared the poinst at the Saffrons on Saturday.

Having rescued a point in injury time on the opening day of the season in a 3-3 draw, Faversham Town repeated the trick on Saturday, as Matt Bourne’s unchallenged header from a corner, cancelled out Ross Treleaven’s excellent first half opener.

It was the first and only chance the visitor’s had throughout the game, as the Town defence stood up to close scrutiny.

Man of the match, Steve Elliott, and Ben Austin have formed a strong alliance at the centre of Town’s back line and they were well supported by the rest of their team mates, who worked tirelessly to negate the threat posed by a visiting side who boasted the best away record in the division.

Town opened the scoring tahnks to fine interplay bettween Matt Aldred and Ross Treleaven.

Aldred delivered a super far post cross that beat everyone apart from Treleaven who fired home a sweet side footed volley, for his seventh goal in nine appearances.

Eastbourne Town dominated possession throughout the first period and their industry and high energy never allowed Faversham to settle into any sort of rhythm that had seen the visitors secure 10 wins and 3 draws from 15 away games this season.

Appeals for a Town penalty were waved away as Archibald was pulled down and the tall striker then had a header, from Richard Greenfield’s cross, well saved by Simon Overland.

After the break Matt Crabb’s free kick was headed wide by Aldred on the hour mark, just as Faversham started to grab a bigger share of the play. The late cruel blow arrived following a corner. The delivery to the far stick was perfect, where it found big defender, Matt Bourne, completely unmarked, and he buried his header beyond Josh Pelling.
