Eastbourne United will look to continue their seven game unbeaten run with a win in the Senior Cup on Saturday.
United are back on track after a poor start to the season, and will be hoping to build on their recent impressive form with victory over Westfield in round two.
Eastbourne boss Paul Daubeney has returned from his honeymoon to see his side have risen to mid-table in the league and have been putting in consistent performances.
He said, “We had a fantastic away win at Dorking last week, so the squad are full of confidence.
“And apparently we have been playing really well, but I’m only going on what [assisstant manager] Paul Sargent has said.”
He added, “I rate our chances quite highly for the game this weekend. We’ve already beaten them at home in the league, and that was when we were out of form.”
United’s opponents, Westfield, are currently on a run of six games without a win and lost 6-0 in their last outing, statistics that should give United an extra boost of confidence.
There will also be added incentive to gain victory this weekend as a third round tie away at Ryman League division one South side Whitehawk awaits the winner.
Although, there is a still a long way to go before the final at Brighton and Hove Albion’s AMEX Stadium.
Daubeney admitted his side were raring to go for this weekend’s game.
He said, “It will be the same squad that played last Saturday and they are firing on all cylinders at the minute. We don’t have any major injuries either, although Ollie Lee is struggling slightly with a knee problem.”
United got to this stage of the Senior Cup with a 4-0 win over Oakwood in round one.
