A goal deep into injury time left Hailsham deflated in defeat as Shoreham stole victory in a seven-goal thriller at Middle Road.
The home side took the lead twice in the first half, firstly through Ollie Davis and then through Fionn Bowra, only to be pegged back each time by goals from Stringers’ hotshot Danny Leach after 22 minutes and then through Simon Stevens five minutes before half-time.
The sides went in at half time level at 2-2, but the action didn’t stop there.
Hailsham eased in front four minutes after the restart with a second goal from Leach as he completed his brace but the Stringers couldn’t stand firm.
Aaran Macmillan grabbed a 61st-minute equaliser and, to complete his double, struck in the 95th minute to secure the 4-3 win for Shoreham.
Goalkeeper Harry Duff saved from the penalty spot in the second half as both teams pressed for a winner, and then Stuart Skan hit the crossbar in a frenetic finish in an absorbing league clash.
Hailsham lie 17th in the Sussex County Divison One table and they will attempt to bounce back on Saturday, going to Horsham YMCA in the League, whilst the Reserves are also in action, at home against Little Common.
