FORMER Eastbourne Town striker Steve Dallaway has joined Hailsham Town ahead of their match at Wick tomorrow (Saturday).
Manager Ken McCreadie is expected to hand a debut to the prolific-scoring forward from Seaford Town. who will join a team looking for their eighth consecutive league win.
McCreadie told Herald Sport, “Now is the time to sign players, when the team’s doing well. You don’t want to sign them when you’re struggling because then you’re clutching at straws, but when you’re doing well players want to come to you.
“The squad is getting bigger and stronger, which we need going into Christmas when we’ve got something like three or four away games on the trot.”
Hailsham travel to Crabtree Park (Wick) – a stadium they’ve failed to win at over the past two seasons – but McCreadie insists this doesn’t bother him.
“It’s a nice pitch. We can play good football on it and we hope to take full advantage of that. We’ll go there and play for the win.
“They lost a lot of their players and got a new manager since we played them last season. I expect it to be tough game.”
McCreadie claims his side are brimming with confidence as they sit in second in the Sussex County League Division 2, having only conceded nine goals all season.
“We defend from the front, all the way through the midfield and our defence. We have the best keeper in the county by a country mile in Russell Tanner and we just aim to keep keeping clean sheets, scoring goals and getting the right results.”
