A 95th minute equaliser for Sittingbourne Town denied Eastbourne Town their first win in seven league games on Wednesday night at The Saffrons.

Town had come from behind to lead 2-1 with less than 20 minutes remaining, thanks to goals from Richard Greenfield and Danny Curd who had cancelled out Ryan Golding’s 21st minute penalty for the visitors.

However with the last kick of the game Town saw their chances of a first win since October cruelly snatched away from them thanks to a 95th minute Nick Davies goal.

Hearts were in Eastbourne mouths early on as Sittingbourne striker Joe Taylor went down in the box under Steve Elliott’s challenge and the linesmen flagged for a penalty. However, the referee was less convinced, and instead awarded Town a free kick for a dive.

In the 21st minute the home side were not so lucky, as the away side did this time take the lead from the penalty spot. Some calamitous defending saw the ball make its way to Taylor who once again went down in the area. Ryan Golding calmly stepped up to send home ‘keeper, Josh Pelling, the wrong way.

The hosts pulled level in the 39th minute. Winger, Richard Greenfield burst into the area and finished cooly past Adam Molloy in the Sittingbourne goal to send the teams in level at the break.

In the 73rd minute Eastbourne got the goal their second half display had deserved. Another cross field ball found Crabb at the far post and his header down found Curd who this time made no mistake, shifting the ball onto his right before drilling low past the keeper for his first goal in 10 games.

Town had chances to kill off the game and they were made to suffer for it. With 95 minutes on the clock a cross from the left was not cleared and Nick Davies volleyed in from 10 yards.
