Eastbourne United chairman Les Aisbett admits he is starting to get excited about Wembley following their 2-1 quarterfinal triumph against Ampthill Town at the Oval last Saturday.
United made history as they produced a determined performance to see-off their opponents on a beautiful March afternoon in front of a decent size crowd at the Oval.
Aisbett’s men will now face Wessex league-leaders Sholing in a two-legged semi-final. The first leg will be played at the Silverlake Arena with the return leg due to take place at the Oval on Saturday, March 5.
If United are successful they will face either West Auckland Town or St Andrews in the Wembley final.
Chairman Aisbett added, “I’m getting excited now. We could get to Wembley! Ampthill were a better team than we have been playing against and it could have gone either way.
“But knowing our team, we don’t give up easily and we keep going until the end. That’s the way we play, it’s brilliant.
“The manager and the players he has got in are comfortable with each other, they play as a team and work at it each week.
Asked what the secret to their recent success has been, he added, “It’s a good manager and good players that’s what it comes down to.
“This Eastbourne United committee and the helpers as well have done a lot for the club and it’s good for them.”
