Boro’ boss Garry Wilson remained adamant Kettering’s Liam McDonald should have been sent off for his two-footed horror challenge on veteran defender Darren Baker.
A furious Wilson was dismissed from his technical area for comments made to the fourth official.
Video evidence later confirmed Wilson’s initial re-action that McDonald should have been sent-off and that Baker was extremely fortunate to avoid serious injury.
Wilson said, “It was a horrific challenge and one of the worst I have seen.
“It was a kung fu style challenge and Darren is fortunate he didn’t break his leg. The referee went for his red and changed his mind to yellow.
“I was angry at the time and after seeing the tape I think I was justified. It was a terrible tackle.”
The incident occurred after midfielder Matt Smart had became the fifth Boro’ player to receive a red card this season.
Wilson agreed Smart should have been dismissed but had some sympathy for his combative midfielder.
Wilson added, “Both of them (Iyseden Christies and Matt Smart) should have been sent-off.
“Christie came right through him and then Paul Furlong also got involved. But he (Smart) raised his hand and letter law says that you have to go.”
