Tommy: It was a lottery

Tommy Widdrington praised both sides after the Boxing Day home defeat against Havant.

Widdrington said, “Full credit to both sets of players. It was a battle and the conditions turned it into a complete lottery.

“We gave them a penalty and obviously that was difference. But we created a number of chances and we were unfortunate that nothing went in.

“Based on chances created we could have won the match but unfortunately it didn’t go our way. We stuck to the task and the commitment we demonstrated was excellent.

“ We tried to play football but it was very hard to do that on the day.”

Borough travel to Havant on New Year’s day and the boss is expecting more of the same. “I can’t imagine the conditions improving too much. But we will go there and give it our best.”
