Eastbourne Borough first team coach Neil Hillier says Marvin Hamilton’s sending off changed the game for his side.

While he admits his side were poor, he said the game’s turning point meant Borough were always up against it.

“It’s a massive disappointment in all aspects,” he said.

“I can’t blame refereeing decisions per se but everything conspired against us today.

“We probably conspired against ourselves more than anything and it was compounded in the second half by what I can only describe as a mystical decision. I think it changed the game.

“I couldn’t believe it. No one appealed for it, their bench didn’t appeal, their players didn’t appeal for it.

“To me, it looked like a fantastic tackle and the shame is, he has been sent off three times and he’ll probably get a big suspension.”

With Borough now certain to finish outside the play-offs, Hillier admits they are now looking further afield.

“We’re already talking about next season and you’d like to think the majority of the squad will still be here next season.”
