Eastbourne Borough defender Ben Austin could not confirm if he will be at the club next season.
Speaking at the presentation evening last Friday, he said, “To be honest I’m not sure what’s happening. Part of me wants to stay but another part of me thinks it might be time to move on.
“We had a group of players that achieved great things and progressed this club and I don’t think I will ever top that. I want to enjoy my football but where that will be I’m not sure as yet.”
Boss Tommy Widdrington added, “It’s been a disappointing season for him because he’s not been available enough. I’ve told him I’m prepared to give him an opportunity but he needs to go away and think to see if he’s capable of doing what Alan and I demand of him.
“Age is obviously an issue for Ben, as it was for the others, but the difference with Darren Baker was that he was physically still capable of doing the job.
“I’ve told the vast majority of players where I stand and given them the chance to get in touch with me.
“This gives them an opportunity to dictate what they want to the club and if some players leave, then they leave amicably.”
