Mystery surrounds King’s suspension as Dripping Pan boss

Eastbourne- based football boss Steve King has been suspended as first team manager by Lewes Football Club.

In a surprise development, the Dripping Pan outfit announced the news on the club website.

A statement read, “Steve King has been suspended from his role as first team manager pending an internal investigation.

“The substance of this investigation must remain confidential at this time.

“A further update will be provided in due course.”

King spent five years in charge of the Rooks from 2003 to 2008 and rejoined the Sussex club in the summer after leaving Farnborough.

He led Lewes to the Blue Square South title in 2008 and recently topped an unofficial Eastbourne Borough fans poll as to who they would like to see in charge at Priory Lane.

Former Eastbourne Borough player Simon Wormull has been asked to assist the Ryman League club with first team management duties for the time being.

Justin Skinner remains as assistant-manager and Paul Booth will join the interim coaching team as player-assistant- manager.
