Eastbourne Borough suffered their first home defeat of the 2012-13 Blue Square South campaign against a well-drilled Maidenhead outfit.
Eastbourne Borough conceded two first half goals and despite long periods of possession they struggled to create opportunities against an organised Maidenhead side.
Darren Baker was recalled to the starting XI and made his 950th appearance but the visitors took the lead on 10 minutes when danger man Leon Solomon wriggled free on the right hand side.
He delivered a cross into the box and David Pratt reacted first to slot home beyond Danny Potter.
On 30 minutes Pratt made it two. Reece Tyson-Lascaris threaded a ball through and Pratt ignored the challenge of Anwar Uddin and fired across Potter.
Borough pushed forward and threw on all their attacking options of David Knight, Gary Hart and even defender Matt Turpin into a advanced role. But they couldn’t break through a stubborn Maidenhead rearguard and only had Chris Shephard’s 57th minute freekick as their only shot on target.
Boss Tommy Widdrington said, “We were punished for two mistakes. We could have played to 10pm and still would not have scored. It’s very disappointing.”
Borough: Potter, Baker, (Turpin 85) Rowe, Uddin, Cole, Gorman (Knight 61) , Johnson (Hart 45), Scowen, Walker, Ademeno, Shephard.
