Eastbourne Borough’s Simon Johnson now boasts the most first team appearances in the Borough squad.
Johnson, 23, signed a new deal for the club and is expected to play a key role in the Blue Square South campaign next season.
Following Darren Baker’s retirement, Johnson now tops the appearance list with 169 first-team outings.
Johnson, a former England youth international, was handed his first team debut by previous manager Garry Wilson in the Blue Square Premier.
Despite his slight build, Johnson more than held his own in the midfield engine room and has gone on to establish himself as a firm favourite at Priory Lane.
Boss Tommy Widdrington said,”I’m sure everyone connected with The Sports will be as pleased as I am with this news.
“Having firstly shown his commitment and then versatility when I first arrived, I feel his consistency levels were a major factor in him scooping The Supporters Player of The Year Award last season.
“His effort and work rate wherever he played were excellent.”
