Eastbourne Borough recorded their second home win in four days thanks to substitute Gary Hart.
Hopes were high for a good performance against visitors Billericay after their 3-0 destruction of Bromley at Priory Lane on Tuesday night.
Boro’ were on-top in this Blue Square South fixture after kick-off was delayed as the team coach was stuck in traffic.
Chris Shephard, who was superb throughout, opened the scoring and made it two goals in two games for him when he neatly finished Charles Ademeno’s throughball.
Ademeno missed a couple of chances to extend the lead and slowly but surely Billericay eased their way into the match.
They pulled level in the 48th minute as Glenn Poole fired home a penalty after Marvin Hamilton-Omole needlessly upended Sam Letchmere in the box.
Ademeno was replaced by Hart on 72 minutes and just four minutes later he latched on to Shephard’s pass and fired in from the edge of the area to claim all three points for the Boro’.
Widdrington’s men are now fourth in the table on six points after their opening three matches.
BOROUGH: Potter, Hamilton-Omole, Rowe, Uddin, Cole, Gorman, Johnson (Carr 75), Screvin, Walker, Ademeno, (Hart 72), Shephard (Turpin 82).
