Eastbourne Borough have strengthened their strike force this week by signing Gillingham FC youngster Tom Derry on a one-month loan.
The former Charlton Athletic striker was signed by Gillingham in the summer and has since been on a successful three-month loan spell at Borough’s Conference South rivals Chelmsford City.
Scoring two goals in 16 appearances during his time with Chelmsford, Derry comes to Borough with good non-league experience under his belt.
The youngster was named the Essex side’s player of the month for August and October and received a lot of praise for his work rate and effort during matches.
This loan move will only last a month for the young striker but he has said that he is pleased to be signing for Borough and is looking forward to getting started.
Boss Tommy Widdrington said, “We have known about Tom for some time now and we were impressed when we came up against him while he was at Chelmsford.
“He is a modern day striker. He’s more than 6ft tall, has good mobility, quick feet and he knows where the back of the net is.”
