Eastbourne Borough hit by Whitehawk on Boxing Day

Eastbourne Borough failed to follow-up their superb victory against leaders Boreham Wood as they went down 2-0 to Steve King’s Whitehawk side on Boxing Day.

The Hawks opened the scoring in the ninth minute as Jake Robinson capitalised on a defensive error by Matt Aldred and slotted the ball beyond Borough ‘keeper Lewis Carey.

Borough rarely troubled the Hawks goalkeeper Craig Ross and Sam Deering ensured victory with an 89th minute penalty at the Enclosed Ground.

Whitehawk moved up to third in the Vanarama South table while Tommy Widdrington’s Borough side are 11th.

Borough welcome Maidenhead to Priory Lane on Sunday and on New Year’s Day they get a chance to exact swift revenge as they face Whitehawk at the Lane.
