Eastbourne chairman Len Smith continues to make progress after suffering a stroke last week.

Smith, 65, was taken to the Wilmington Ward at Eastbourne DGH last Friday and yesterday (Thursday) his condition was described by the hospital as ‘stable and improving.’

Smith lost co-ordination of the left side of his body following the stroke but movement is begining to return following daily physiotherapy.

A club statement said, “Len is feeling better and is making progress.

“We all wish Len a speedy recovery and the club sends best wishes to him and all his family.”

Assistant chairman and long-term friend Mick Grimer added, “It was a shock to us all but the most important thing is that he is getting better.”
