Eastbourne Borough will not be converting to a 3g pitch for next season.

Borough were expected to change their main pitch in time for next season’s Conference South campaign but reasons beyond their control have forced their hand.

The company who were going to lend Borough the money had asked Eastbourne Borough Council to sign a step-in agreement, meaning they would be responsible for loan repayments should the club be unable to meet them.

But the request came when the council had been disbanded because of the General Election and a decision would have come too late to ensure the pitch was ready for next season.

The Football Conference have also said they may not allow 3g pitches in the Conference Premier despite stating they would be allowed previously,

“CIC Chairman Paul Maynard said, “This is incredibly frustrating. The project was ready to go at the beginning of April and has been derailed for reasons totally beyond our control). We will not give up on the idea and will be liaising closely with the Conference over this in the forthcoming weeks.”
