Eastbourne Borough came within a whisker of claiming all three points at big-spending Dover Athletic on Monday afternoon.
In the end Boro were satisfied with a share of the points against a side many have tipped for automatic promotion from the Blue Square South.
In an entertaining match both sides had chances to score but the best opportunity of the match came in injury-time for Tommy Widdrington’s visitors.
The excellent Gary Hart, who returned to the starting line-up in place of Charles Ademeno, picked out James Walker.
The Antigua international was about to fire beyond former Boro’ loanee Mitch Walker in the Dover goal but he had his shot blocked by a tremendous last ditch tackle.
A point was a fair reward for the Sports who returned a total of four points from their Bank Holiday fixtures following their 2-1 home win against Essex boys Billericay.
