Eastbourne United have signed winger Joe Dryer ahead of this weekend’s top of the table clash with Loxwood in Sussex County Division Two.
Dryer arrives from Ryman League South leaders Peacehaven & Telsecombe and will provide welcomed cover for top-scorer Jason Taylor, who is set to miss the rest of the season because of a broken leg.
The wide-man, who was part of the Peacehaven side that won Sussex Division One last season, comes with a wealth of experience, and will slot in nicely to a side with their own aspirations for promotion
A win on Saturday would see United open up a three point gap on their rivals, and with two games in hand, they will be on course for the league title, which was the target at the beginning of the season.
United put in, arguably, their best performance of the season in a 5-2 win in the reverse fixture, and the boss is confident of emulating that display this weekend.
“That was probably some of the best football we’ve played,” Rowland said. “That game was won at half-time. We were 4-0 up and we took the foot off the gas to be honest. It could have been much more.”
Centre-back Shaun Loft is set to miss the game because of suspension but aside from that Rowland has a full squad to choose from.
Rowland will also have one eye on the FA Vase tie with Hanworth Villa later this month, a fixture that he admitted to being the main focus for the club in January.
