Mile Oak 2,
Eastbourne United 2
Eastbourne United let a two goal lead slip on Saturday in their County League Two match away at Mile Oak.
A pair of first-half strikes gave United the lead at the break.
Drew Greenall slotted home in the 23rd minute, and Shaun Lee likewise found the net just before the half-time whistle.
However, Mile Oak fought back late-on, as they scored two crucial goals in the final 12 minutes, which meant both sides had to be content with a point apiece.
Christopher Paine netted the first of Mile Oak’s goals in the 78th minute, and Rickie Mitchell rounded of the scoring just three minutes from the end of the match.
Manager Paul Daubeney said after the game, that despite the disappointment of not being able to see out the match, there were still plenty of positives to be taken.
“I’m happy with the performance, as the majority of our play was on the deck.
“The return of Drew Grenall’s name on the scoresheet was also encouraging, especially with a tricky game away at Loxwood up next for the side.”
As a result of the draw, Eastbourne find themselves in fourth place in the league, a single point ahead of Mile Oak who occupy fifth, albeit having played an extra match.
