This time the Hillians have picked up an award in the local community having won The Bright FM Sporting Excellence Award, sponsored by Covers, at Friday night’s Bright FM awards.

The annual event, which was held at East Sussex National Golf Club, recognises businesses, people and organisations from the local area. Hill Manager Ian Chapman said “This award is another reminder of what the team and the club achieved last season”. “We are now focusing on the task ahead this season – which is to remain in the Ryman Premier League.”

The Club also enjoyed terrific runs in the FA Cup and FA Trophy defeating plenty of teams from higher levels of football including those famous wins against Sutton United and Aldershot Town.

This Saturday, the Hillians are at home again for the fifth time in five games when Wingate & Finchley visit the Green Elephants Stadium.

Hill were due to visit Staines Town on Tuesday night after picking up a 2-2 draw with Needham Market on Saturday.

That point meant the Hillians had won seven points out of nine since they were disappointingly knocked out of the FA Cup going into Tuesday’s game. Chapman is pleased with the response and said after the Needham Market game “We probably weren’t at our best, I thought it was a really difficult game.

“We looked a little bit tired after three games in a week. We are absolutely delighted to get the seven points out of the three games on one side of it, but on the other a bit disappointed we haven’t held on for the three points. But I can’t fault the players, to have seven points we would have taken that at the start of the week.”

Following Saturday’s game with Wingate the Hillians then go on to face Ryman South side Dorking Wanderers in the Robert Dyas League Cup next Tuesday (6th October).

Hillians Youth Team have been drawn away to Molesey in the FA Youth Cup after beating Guildford City 5-1 in the last round. Goals by Elliott Dollner, Guy Bolton, Charlie Townsend, Gary Valaydon and an own goal saw Tony Tregear’s side progress.
