Eastbourne Town manager Danny Bloor admitted Saturday’s game away to Merstham will be extremely tough, given the amount of injuries that his side are currently facing.
Bloor had to make two changes in the first six minutes in their midweek clash with East Preston, and recognises the challenge that Merstham will give them.
“Merstham is a very tough game on Saturday,” he said. “With a fully-fit squad we can beat anyone in this league, but we’re missing a lot of top players through injury so it’ll be hard.
“They picked up a fantastic result last weekend, beating tough opposition (3rd-placed Dulwich Hamlet 3-1).
We’ll give it our best shot though.”
Eastbourne currently sit 10th in the Ryman League South Division, whilst Merstham are three places below in 13th, five points behind Bloor’s men.
A number of Eastbourne Town players are sidelined going into this weekend, including Luke Denton and Richard Greenfield, and first-choice goalkeeper Josh Pelling may also be out.
Town, though, are unbeaten away from home since December 1, picking up five wins and two draws. In the return fixture earlier in the season the Saffrons’ outfit beat Merstham 3-1, and Bloor will be looking for more of the same come 3pm on Saturday.
