Eastbourne Town boss Danny Bloor insists all the pressure will be with Whitehawk ahead of the Saffrons Boxing Day showdown.
The Hawks are the big spenders of Ryman League football and will arrive at Town looking for no less than three points as they hope the maintain their promotion challenge.
Town on the other hand spent their modest budget cautiously in the summer but have been hampered by an ever-increasing injury list.
Key signings Matt Percival and Danny Curd have hardly kicked a ball in anger this season and Bloor has regularly gone into battle missing 8-10 first team players.
“We are getting used to it. It comes to Friday night, we look at who is available and we go from there.
“It shows the progress we have made this season. It shows that with a large chunk of our squad missing we are still able to find a way of competing.
“On Boxing Day all the pressure will be on Whitehawk. They will need the three points because of their expectations and we know that if we get ourselves right we are a match for any side in this division including Whitehawk.”
Next Friday Town take on Whyteleafe at the Saffrons for an evening kick-off before they complete their festive fixture schedule with a trip to Crawley Down who have enjoyed something of a revival as they begin to adapt to life in the Ryman following their promotion from the County League.
“Christmas is always a busy period but I like it. You know there will be a good atmosphere at the ground and hopefully we will get a good crowd.”
