Anthony Knockaert said Albion were back to their best in the 3-0 win at home to Derby County last night.

Knockaert scored the opener with a low 25-yard strike after just five minutes and the Seagulls bossed proceedings from then on. Sam Baldock got the second just before half-time and Glenn Murray added a late third.

Brighton moved level on points with Championship leaders Newcastle as they made it back-to-back wins, following a 2-0 victory at Rotherham on Tuesday.

French winger Knockaert now has 13 goals and eight assists this season, after providing Murray's goal, and said afterwards: "I think we are back to our best.

"I don't think we were bad against Newcastle, it was two late goals which hurt because we wanted to win the game but now it's in the past and we need to look forward and it's a good six points that we had this week.

"It was a massive week for us, we knew it was important to get six points and we did it, so now we have one week to rest and be ready for the match against Leeds."

Knockaert believes Brighton's win puts the pressure on Huddersfield, who travel to Brentford this afternoon and are now nine points behind the Seagulls, with two games in hand.

He said: "Every time we take three more points, it's pressure for them. We know it's a tough game for them, so we will see what happens but we just need to keep going and thinking about us.

"When you know you are nine points ahead, if you keep winning, you go up at this stage of the season. It's not about the other ones, it's in our hands now and if we keep winning, we will be there.

"We'll follow the scores of course, you are in the stage of the season that you look at the scores. If they drop points, it's massive for us and we cannot lie and say we won't watch the scores. But even if they win, it doesn't matter. It's the same for us, we just want to get another three points against Leeds next week."
