Bloor keen to finish last home match in fine style

Eastbourne Town manager Danny Bloor is looking to avoid his side’s season petering out as they head into their penultimate match of the campaign.

With just two games left to play and sitting in mid-table with nothing to fight for, Eastbourne Town’s season is in danger of finishing in easily-forgettable fashion.

However, Bloor insists he side are just as determined as ever to win the remaining two matches, first of which is a home tie with Merstham this weekend.

“Although we’re not playing for much besides pride, it would be nice to win our last two games.

“It will be a tough match but we can just relax and enjoy it because there’s not much riding on it. This weekend will be our last home game of the season so we want to finish on a high there.”

Merstham recorded a 3-0 victory when the sides met earlier this season and are currently occupying 8th place in the Ryman Division One South table. Like Eastbourne, they too have ended their season easily safe from relegation but short of a promotion chase.

Danny Bloor looks set to continue to give his youngsters a chance in the side after Max Hollobone and Joe Summerbell both performed well in Town’s 3-1 defeat to Walton and Hersham last weekend.

“I made a lot of changes for the match and I felt maybe we should’ve got a draw from it, but we can take positives from the likes of Max and Joe, who both acquitted themselves very well.”

Matt Geard will still be available for selection as the suspension for the red card he received in last Saturday’s match won’t kick in until the last game of the season away at Godalming.

Steve Elliot and Steve May, who were both absent from the Town team last weekend ahead of running the Brighton Marathon on Sunday, are also both available.

Tom Godfrey will be hoping to keep his place in the starting 11 after making his debut at the weekend as Kieron Thorp was rested on the bench.
