Bailo in demand: Bloor keen to bring Camara to the Saffrons

Eastbourne Town have confirmed they are still going strong in the battle to sign Bailo Camara from Eastbourne Borough.

The Guinea-Bissau native has been a target for various other clubs too, including Hastings United, who have already put in a seven-day approach for him.

But Town boss Danny Bloor says he is ‘very interested’ in adding the midfielder to his squad, especially after the departure of fellow midfielder Ryan James to Metropolitan Police FC earlier this year.

“I’m really keen to get Camara here,” Bloor said. “He trained with us before Christmas and he’s one that’s interested us for a while.

“Things have gone a bit quiet lately because of the change of hands at Borough, but I will speak to Tommy Widdrington about a possible deal soon.”

The Town squad will also be boosted by the return of Matt Percival, who is now fully fit after suffering a long-term ankle injury.

Percival could start for Eastbourne this weekend providing their match with Walton Casuals defies the weather and goes ahead.

Bloor said, “We’re in the lap of the gods at the moment. It’s too early to say if the match will go ahead this weekend but it still looks like a winter wonderland out there at the moment.

“Regardless, we’re fully prepared for it. We’ve had a few hard training sessions in the gym as we haven’t been able to train outside, but our team is at full-strength.”

Eastbourne Town’s match against Bognor Regis Town was postponed last Saturday due to a snow-covered Saffrons.
