WAITING GOES ON FOR FRUSTRATED BOROUGH BOSS

EASTBOURNE Borough’s new manager Tommy Widdrington (left) admitted the waiting game was beginning to prove frustrating as Saturday’s home fixture against lowly Thurrock fell victim to the weather.

With more than a week of night-time frosts there was never any realistic chance of the match going ahead.

While the enforced break is good news for those players recovering from injuries - Ben Austin, Gary Hart and Gary Charman all on the recovery table - it also means suspensions still hang over Carl Rook and Carl Masters.

Although the new management team has yet to see action on the pitch they have been busy in the background.

Tommy this week praised the David Lloyd Club for offering their indoor facilities for training - adding that he hoped this week’s improvement in temperatures would at last allow for some ‘on-grass’ sessions.

He also said he had been busy looking to strengthen the squad and also acquring some information on future opponents.

The first of those comes thuis Saturday when Borough travel to Boreham Wood hoping to complete a double.

Borough beat them 3-2 at Priory Lane in mid-September with goals from Matt Crabb, Eddie Hutchinson and a Wood defender.

The Borough starting line-up that day was: Banks, Charman, Cole, Smart, Rowe, Elphick, Brinkhurst, Johnson, Hutchinson, Hart and Crabb.
