Eastbourne Borough Football Club unveiled Tommy Widdrington as their new manager this week.
The former Southampton player and Salisbury manager agreed to take the managerial reigns this week and will be in charge of Boro’s match at high-flying Sutton United on Saturday. His first home match is on Tuesday night when The Sports welcome second-placed Dartford to Priory Lane.
Former Wimbledon player Alan Kimble, who worked alongside Widdrington at Hemel Hampstead, will be the head coach.
Widdrington said, “The first thing we have to do is stop the losing habit. I want to get this side fit and organised and pull us away from the relegation zone as soon as possible. I think it is fair to say that this squad is under achieving at the moment.”
Widdrington admitted he was delighted to take the role and is looking forward to the challenge ahead.
He added, “The club has had a great rise through the ranks and I want to continue that good work. I had a look at the trophy cabinet when I arrived and I have rarely seen anything like it at a non-league club. The previous regime enjoyed tremendous success and we aim to continue that.”
