Scrappy win at Priory Lane eases Borough’s relegation fears

Eastbourne Borough have eased their relegation fears with a well-fought 2-0 victory over Hampton and Richmond Borough this afternoon.

The deadlock was broken at Priory Lane by Alex Lacey, who nodded home a Matt Crabb corner midway through the first half.

Things got even harder for the visitors as they were reduced to ten men in the 65th minute. Hampden and Richmond’s Dean Inman received two yellow cards in the space of just two minutes.

Fifteen minutes later, substitute Charles Ademeno doubled Borough’s advantage to seal the win and end their run of four consecutive defeats.

The victory means the Sports are now six points clear of the relegation zone. However, after good away wins for Bromley and Staines today, and with Hampton and Richmond Borough still having two games in hand, safety is still not yet secured.
