Multi-million development plans for Boro

Eastbourne Borough unveiled ambitious plans this week to improve facilities at Priory Lane.

Speaking at the Borough Means Business lunch held at Priory Lane on Wednesday, vice chairman of the CIC group Paul Maynard went through the proposed changes.

The main focus of the development will be on the North Stand where the club plan to install a number of executive boxes and also add new changing rooms and a players entrance and tunnel.

The East Stand is due to have 16 tiers of terracing to improve the atmosphere while the south stand is planned to be extended to provide additional seating with youth team changing rooms built along the back of the stand facing a new pitch for the youth team.

New turnstiles will be placed on the north-east corner of the ground.

An indoor archery area is on the plan and in the future they hope to have on site health and fitness facilities.

The committee are looking at the possibility of acquiring land to develop a floodlit 3G football pitch to improve training facilities.

They also hope to employ a community officer in the near future to tour the local schools and raise Boro’s profile within the community.

Maynard reiterated the ambition to compete as a full-time club within three to five years and their commitment to the youth development centre.

Maynard added, “This club does not lack ambition or direction. We are constantly looking at ways to move this club forward.”

Chairman Smith said, “We have been planning this for some time. We hope to submit the final plans to the council in March or April 2012.

“It is a costly exercise and it will be funded by a combination of grants, investment and by the club.

“We are very excited by these plans and it will ensure this club continues to progress.”
