Boss Tommy Widdrington praised his new central defensive partnership after the draw at Boreham Wood.

New skipper Ollie Rowe was immaculate at the back and was joined by Luton Town loanee Alex Lacey who impressed on debut.

The Boro boss said, “We made five changes from the team that faced Maidenhead.

“Having watched the game I knew it was not the team I wanted to put out.

“Alex Lacey came in and made a fantastic debut. He and Ollie were our picks for the match.

“Ollie was given the armband. It’s a new era for the management and this could also be a new era for Ollie leading the side.”

“Overall I thought we were okay. Coming away from home and getting a point is good. So I have to say we are off 26 points and moving onwards and that’s good.

“Both teams could lay claim to deserving the victory but I felt we created the better chances. We hit the bar and Eddie had a free header near the end that he could have put away.

“He can’t have the argument to say he had hair in his face.”

Of Alex Lacey’s signing from Luton, he added, “Alex trained with the lads on Thursday evening and he is looking forward to helping us achieve our objectives.

“He will help us increase our numbers in an area where we are, or were, very thin.”

Experienced left sided player Ronnie Bull has also joined the squad. He was an unused substitute at Boreham.
