Boro have gone Batti
Eastbourne Borough have pulled off a spectacular transfer coup by signing South American midfielder Agustin Battipiedi.
The 22-year-old central midfielder, who made eight first team appearances under Gus Poyet at Brighton, has signed on at Priory Lane. He arrived in English football in 2010 from Argentinean third division outfit Comunicaciones.
Battipiedi and fellow Argentine Cristian Baz both signed one year contracts with the Seagulls but it was announced in May 2011 they would be released at the end of the season.
Wilson swooped for the midfield schemer after the South American had an unsuccessful trial at League one club Leyton Orient.
Wilson said, “We thought we would have a look at him. We have been impressed with him in training so we signed him up and we will take it from there.
“It’s a fairly open arrangment at the moment he has signed on but we you never know what might happen.”
Battipiedi was an unused substitute at Waltham Forest and is available for selection for Saturday’s clash against Eastleigh.
