EAGLES LAND FIVE-FIGURE DEAL

EASTBOURNE Eagles have landed what they regard as their best ever sponsorship deal.

The new sponsors are Cinque Port Holidays which is based in Ore, near Hastings, and which run over 20 holidays villages all over the country.

The five-figure deal is initially for one-year, but there are high hopes that if Eagles enjoy another successful season, it will be extended.

It is the first time that Eagles have been sponsored by a company that is not connected with speedway.

Co-promoter Jon Cook described the deal as 'fantastic.'

He said, 'The money will be spent on maintaining the quality of the squad we have got.

'It will also benefit our riders in the long term and enable us to extend their contracts.

'It will give them the security we want them to have and means that the likes of Mark Loram can ride at Arlington for as long as they like.'

Eagles owner Terry Russell said the deal was a great boost for Eagles.

'We are determined to deliver success for our fans and delighted that Cinque Ports Holidays are giving us their backing.'

Malcolm Parratt, Cinque Ports Director of Operations, added, 'This is our first venture into speedway sponsorship and we are looking forward to the new season.

'We see the arrangement as a way of increasing our name awareness and building our business, while at the same time backing a successful local team.'

Among riders at the sponsorship launch on Wednesday was Dean Barker whose testimonial meeting is on Sunday, March 16.

The formidable Wolves are at Arlington on March 16, a meeting that will be covered live by Sky.
