Eagles gear up for TV date

Eastbourne Eagles will be striving to ensure that history repeats itself tonight (Monday) as the Swindon Robins visit Arlington (7.30pm) in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

The Wiltshire outfit, currently disputing the Elite League top spot with Wolverhampton Wolves, will be all out to claim a favourable result in order to cement their place at the head of the section and they will not need reminding of their first visit to the Eagles' home this year.

It was an incident packed evening that contained numerous falls and one that saw them let slip an early eight-point lead after only two races before succumbing to the Eagles' home dominance as Eastbourne eventually ran out 50-41 winners.

Another win for the Eagles against the Blunsdon outfit would go a long way to dispelling some of the gloom following a difficult week for the the club.

It was one that saw them suffer their second home reverse of the campaign against bottom of the league Belle Vue Aces with Bob Dugard casting fresh doubt over the long term future of the Eagles if a successor to take over the promotional reins from him in 2010 cannot be found.

If they are to do so, however, they will need to raise their game somewhat, the Robins' season having received a massive shot in the arm following the recent acquisition of 26-year-old Slovenian, Matej Zagar.

Troy Batchelor, whose injury was the spur to introducing Zagar to the side, is the one who has unfortunately had to make way.

With Grand Prix superstar Australian Leigh Adams heading up the offensive, an already good Swindon side now potentially possesses the hallmarks of greatness following Zagar's inclusion.

One piece of good news for the Eagles is that David Norris is expected to have a run out over the next day or so in order to assess his fitness, Eastbourne's all-time top scorer eyeing a return to the saddle.

Eagles: 1. Davey Watt, 2. Rider Replacement for David Norris, 3. Lewis Bridger, 4. Cameron Woodward, 5. Lukas Dryml, 6. Ricky Kling, 7. Simon Gustafsson.

Robins: 1. Leigh Adams, 2. Jurica Pavlic, 3. Simon Stead, 4. Travis McGowan, 5. Matej Zagar, 6. Paul Hurry, 7. Ryan Fisher.
