Eastbourne cricketers are preparing for what could prove to be a historic weekend for the club.
Saturday will see Mark Tomsett’s league leaders travel to Goring-by-Sea and victory could seal promotion back into the Sussex Premier at the first attempt.
On Sunday, Eastbourne travel to the Sussex County Cricket Ground in Hove where they will face their old rivals, Hastings and St Leonards Priory, in the final of the Gray Nichols T20 Cup Final.
Skipper Mark Tomsett said, “We are all looking forward to the weekend. So far we have had a good season. The lads have played well and we have proved very difficult to beat.
“It will be great if we can continue that form and winning habit this weekend.
“Gaining promotion was always the priority this season and to progress so far in the cup has been a real bonus. Having the final at Hove added an extra incentive for us.
“We have been very focused and we will go there and enjoy the day.
“Hastings are the Premier League side, so I guess you can say all the pressure will be on them. We will go there, play some good cricket and enjoy the experience.”
