Eastbourne United are hoping Hailsham Town have already gone on their holidays when the sides meet in a local derby clash on Easter Monday.
Hailsham sealed promotion from the Sussex County Division Two three weeks ago, but manager Kenny McCreadie insists they will not take their foot off the pedal when they travel to the Oval this weekend.
“If we win then we’ve basically secured second place, and we’d rather finish second than third, so we will be out to win it.
“We want to win every match, whether it’s league or cup. Eastbourne are obviously a lot of points behind us but it makes no difference, a derby is a derby and we’re really looking forward to it.
“We were really terrible last time we played them. The only thing I hope for this time is a good official.”
In the other camp, Eastbourne boss Paul Daubeney is also fired up for the fixture, which his side won 1-0 when they played the reverse on Boxing Day.
“We expect them to be up for it, as are we. It will be a tough game but it depends on their frame of mind, whether they’ve already gone on their holidays.
“It’s our last game of the season so we want to end on a high.”
Before that, Eastbourne have to travel to Midhurst and Easebourne on Saturday to face a side languishing in the basement of the league.
Daubeney said, “I’d like to think it’s a winnable game. They’ve improved massively since we played them last so it will be a hard game, but I’m expecting three points.
“Hailsham don’t play on Saturday so will be fresh for our game with them. The last time we played a quick turn around of games over new year, the second one really took it out of us, so I’ll probably alternate the squad to be as fresh as possible for Monday.”
Eastbourne will be without ex-Hailsham players Shane Saunders and Nick Barden, while Daubeney hopes Liam Baitup will be available despite being unwell at training on Tuesday night.
The club will be boosted by the return of goalkeeper Adam Sargent.
Hailsham remain without Ashley Jarvis and Alex Atrill but will also welcome back a key player in Ryan Fletcher, who could slip straight back into the starting line-up.
