Mac hopes for good news from Saunders hearing

HAILSHAM TOWN host Ringmer tomorrow with boss Kenny McCreadie hoping striker Shane Saunders will be available for selection.

Saunders was banned from all football following an alleged assault on a referee while playing for Sunday League outfit Langney Wanderers.

“Shane’s hearing is on Friday so we’ll know by then, he’s been training hard so will be fit and ready if selected.”

The Stringers haven’t played since February 5 and will look to claim their fourth consecutive win, Saunders grabbed a hat-trick in a 5-1 win in the reverse fixture in November.

McCreadie added, “Ringmer like to attack and I’m expecting an open game, but we’ve tightened up at the back recently and I think a lot of that is down to Paul Richardson’s performances; when he plays well it breathes confidence to the whole back four. We’re not safe yet, there are a lot of big names in division two itching to replace us. We need to make sure we get to that 40 point mark as soon as possible.”

Hailsham have no new injury worries for the weekend’s game but begin life without Luke Denton and McCreadie hopes whoever replaces him can take their chance, “We don’t have the finances to bring someone in so it’s an opportunity for someone within the squad. I ask for the same thing from all my players hard graft, organisation and to take their chances.”
