Kenny sets Hailsham points’ target

HAILSHAM Town need to win just six of their 12 remaining fixtures to seal the runner-up spot in the league, according to boss Kenny McCreadie.

Hailsham are currently sitting in second place, 16 points behind leaders East Preston and 9 points ahead of third-placed Dorking Wanderers.

McCreadie said, “We’re nearly over the line, we just need that final push. As long as we’re up there come the end of the season, that’s all that counts.”

Hailsham Town have been on a stellar run of form that has seen them claim 13 out of their last 15 available points.

Hailsham, like most other teams in the county, have had three weeks away from competitive action after minus temperatures caused two consecutive postponements. They resume normal service this Saturday when they travel to Storrington looking to complete a double.

“It looks pretty certain the match will go ahead as they didn’t get much of the snow over that way. The postponements have been frustrating but it’s just that time of year, everyone’s in the same situation.

“We’ve had some really good training sessions indoors but obviously without having played a proper game, our match-fitness will be tested.”

McCreadie will be without suspended duo Ryan Alexander and Steve Early, as well as the injured Alex Atrill, who will be out for the rest of the season.

Hailsham were victorious by a 1-0 margin when the teams met earlier this season – one of the many clean sheets that McCreadie’s men have chalked up this campaign.

“Our defence is probably the most pleasing thing of the year. Our goals conceded is the lowest in the league at only 24, which is good by any standards.

“We’re keeping clean sheets and scoring goals too, it all makes for a very happy camp.”
