Attack the key to survival - Simmonds
With games running out and relegation looming large, Eastbourne Town captain Danny Simmonds insists no quarter will be given as fellow-strugglers Whitstable arrive at the Saffrons tomorrow.
With Town rock bottom, and their visitors just two places and four points better off, Simmonds is under no illusions as to the importance of the encounter.
He said, "We've got to be positive, the only way to look is forward. They (Whitstable) are in amongst us, so it's a six-pointer.
"We've got to go for the win – I'd imagine we'll go for an attacking formation."
Following Saturday's defeat at Worthing, Simmonds admits a few home truths were aired in the dressing room.
"You've got to take the positives that come out and try and take it on board as a team," he said, "you don't take it personally.
"Our target now is to win every game, obviously that's unlikely, but that's got to be our target. We can only do our best."
Boss Danny Bloor is aiming to secure the services of another striker, to boost Town's fire power ahead of the run-in. Bloor has his eyes on a proven goal-getter, and the new arrival would be in contention for tomorrow's fixture.
But Bloor was quick to pay tribute to 21-year-old front-man Charlie Francis, who started for the first time under the new management at Folkestone on Tuesday.
Bloor said, "He's got pace, purpose and he wants to listen – he's a player I've got a lot of time for."
Looking to the game, which could make Town's season, the manager said, "We're really looking forward to it. It's one we must win, we'll be going all out, taking the bull by the horns and going for it.
"Things have got to start turning in these last 10 games."
