Second league defeat for Eastbourne cricketers

Eastbourne cricketers suffered their second Sussex League defeat when they lost by five wickets to Stirlands.
It was a shock setback for the Saffrons side against a newly promoted team celebrating their first win.

Skipper Tom smith made 50 as Eastbourne reached 180-9 declared. Fellow Sussex team-mate James Kirtley was unbeaten on 32.

Former Chichester skipper Daniel Oliver did the damage for Stirlands, taking 5-36.

Stuart Collier (3-72) was the pick of the Eastbourne bowlers as Stirlands (184-5) reached their target with five wickets down.

Australian Nathan Ball led the way for the visotrs with 74.

The defeat has sent Eastbourne down to fourth place in the table which is now led by Chichester who beat East Grinstead by five wickets.

Just one-point behind is Horsham,victors over Brighton & Hove by 39 runs.

It was an overall unhappy day for Eastbourne whose second eleven (156) went down to Littlehampton (160-6) by four wickets.
