Eastbourne Borough head coach Nick Greenwood believes the fans can play a crucial part in the club's bid for the Blue Square South League title.
As Borough prepare for the most important Easter period in their history, Greenwood is hoping supporters will turn out in increasing numbers to cheer the side to the winning post.

He told Herald Sport, "The supporters were terrific against Hayes and Yeading. It was a good turnout and it really helps the team go out and perform.

"We are fighting for this title and certainly every other team would swap places with us.

"We have a tough run in and Tuesday showed no matter what the league position, you are in for a hard game."

Boss Garry Wilson admitted on Tuesday night that his men are now the title favourites.

Boro's impressive midweek win following the shock home defeat suffered by rivals Lewes at the hands of St Albans has given them a commanding four points lead at the top of the table with both sides having just eight games remaining.

Boro welcome Bromley to Priory Lane tomorrow (Saturday) before an Easter Monday trip to Welling United.

Back to back victories would underline their title credentials and take them a step closer to the highest tier of non-league football.

Wilson said, "If you were a betting man the money will go on us because we have the points. But we are not getting carried away because I still think it will go to the end of the season.

"Bromley are a decent side and they have made a few good additions to the squad. They still think they have a chance of a play-off spot and they will make it difficult.

"I always thought Lewes would win this league but we have given ourselves a chance. We are playing quite well and we will have to see
where it takes us."

Tenth placed Bromley will provide a real threat. With 68 goals so far this season they are the second highest scorers in the league behind Boro.

Wilson also hinted changes will be made to freshen up the side for the Easter period. At a time when Lewes have been hit by injuries, Boro showed the full might of their squad in midweek.

Allan Tait and Matt Smart came off the bench to to add a new dimension and win the match.

And with Darren Baker, Ben Austin, Adam Wilde, Darren Budd, Nathan Crabb and Robbie Kember all vying for starting roles, it's a luxury Boro have not always had.

Wilson added, "This is probably the best squad of players I have had. It takes time to build that up and we will look to use them over Easter.

"The last thing we want to do is have a good win and then put in flat performance. We have two games in three days and we will hope to keep things fresh."
