Eastbourne Cricket Club suffered a five-wicket defeat at Three Bridges yesterday, their first in the Sussex League premier division this season.
It was a disappointing second game for the Saffrons side, particularly after a tremendous unbeaten 154 by Mark Tomsett had helped them to a formidable score of 252-4declared.
Tomsett was supported by 54 from Jack Hepburn.

Half-centuries by Danny Alderman and Mark Newell saw Bridges home at 254-5.

Eastbourne took 12 points from the match and share the league leadership with Cuckfield (both 42 points) who drew with Brighton & Hove.

Eastbourne suffered a double setback with the second eleven going down at home to Three Bridges by six wickets.

In a match similar to the first eleven game, Eastbourne declared at 232-5 (Michael Pannett 57, Mark Trubshaw 53) only for Bridges to reach their target for the loss of four wickets.
